The Idle Air Control (IAC) valve is a component in a vehicle's fuel system that regulates the engine's idle speed. The IAC valve is responsible for controlling the amount of air that bypasses the throttle plate, which allows the engine to maintain a stable idle speed even when there are changes in the load on the engine.

The IAC valve is typically located on or near the throttle body and is connected to the engine control module (ECM), which uses various sensors to determine the engine's operating conditions and adjust the IAC valve accordingly. When the engine is idling, the IAC valve allows a small amount of air to bypass the throttle plate, which raises the engine's RPM and maintains a stable idle speed. When the engine is under load, such as when accelerating, the IAC valve adjusts to allow less air to bypass the throttle plate and maintain the proper air-fuel mixture for efficient combustion.
